Split cane fly rods
Bamboo is an amazing organic material—a grass with the tensile strength of steel that flexes and dampens, making it the perfect material to cast a line. Maybe the most remarkable feature of bamboo is how renewable it is—the tonkin cane I use for my rods can grow up to 50 feet in as little as 60 days.
I am a one man shop located in the Hudson River Valley of New York. To put it simply, I take apart a single culm of bamboo and reassemble it into a fine fishing tool. Each rod takes about 60 hours of handwork to complete. I think there is something intangible about a bamboo fly rod that just makes you look forward to fishing it, and I hope each rod I make will be enjoyed for a long time.
Rods and all components proudly made in the USA.
